Corners

The continual panning action of the roaming lens focus’ our gaze on a seemingly haptic, almost tactile experience of the site, contrasted by the zoom of the lens to a distant optic perspective as the corner is turned, to be interrupted only by the text and the speed of the zoom as the viewer is instructed to ‘RUN RUNNER RUN’.

The disjunctive synthesis of ‘and … and … and…’ as the repeated images flow one from another disrupt the seemingly straight objective of data-collection: a sense of how the world is, remains confounded.

The text is compiled in much the same way: an ‘aggregate’ truth from a collection of references found at the site, where both Logan’s Run, and Ursula le Guinn’s novel: Lathe of Heaven, (adapted for telefilm) were shot on location.

The architects Philip Johnson and John Burgee reference Alice in Wonderland, playing with ideas of scale, mirrored in the control of the camera, and edit of the video, whilst Lewis Carrols text contributes to a disjointed hypertext woven from the visitors information boards at the site, and the associated film scripts.

please note that the video should be watched on a loop - the 'end' so to speak, starts at the beginning - the 'start' is at 0:23 seconds.
